Management Pro I developed the business plan for my consulting practice while a client in executive outplacement. At outplacement, I also ran into an old friend or two, one of whom invited me to meet with her job search support team.
Upon presenting highlights of my services to an august group of job-seeking investment bankers, three of them kindly explained to me that I would never be hired, and why.
"Hiring you would be like admitting you're a bad manager. Who would want to do that?"
Hmmm, I thought. What would you do if you wanted to be a better golfer?
Doom yourself to staying stuck in sandtraps? Or work with the golf pro?

Management Pro is a series of small group
meetings, led by me. Group members learn through structured conversation on common
management themes, centered on real-life
issues and solutions.
- "Fit", part 1: how to hire for a good fit
- "Fit", part 2: what do you do if you've got the wrong fit
- Managing people's performance
- Difficult conversations and how to have them
- Other topical issues customized to the group's current needs.
Groups are limited to 7 participants, and meet weekly in midtown Manhattan; meetings are 90 minutes. An 8 week commitment is required, price is $1200.
The next group starts on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 8:00am.
(I'm also open to discussion about working in this way with a group of managers in your organization.)
